Only 4 more sleeps....

.....until the challenges start at still addINKtive!  Make sure you drop by & visit.  :)

Something crafty without cardstock!

No, I didn't make the Canadian Club, but I did do the etched monograms on a set of whiskey glasses!

I created some vinyl stencils with my digital die-cutter, applied the etching medium &, voila!, personalised glassware!  Now I want to etch everything in sight, lol!

The Paper Players Challenge #126 - It's Time to Say Farewell

Well, this post is a little sad, as it is time to farewell the lovely ladies at The Paper Players (Ann, Anne Marie, Jaydee, LeAnne & Nance), who have welcomed Amy, Dawn, Jen & myself as Guest Designers for the past six months.  This entire group of ladies are so sweet & are such a talented group of crafters, it has been a pleasure working with them each week.

Anyway, this is the final Paper Players challenge for 2012 & Ann is hosting, with a wonderful, seasonal theme:-

& here is my project:-

I have used an MFT snowflake die to cut two snowflakes from my main shimmery white panel, which has then been popped up on dimensionals & layered over some gorgeous teal glitter paper.  I've cut another snowflake from SU's glimmer paper & popped that up on a dimensional.  Rhinestones & tiny crystals have been added to the centres of each snowflake:-

Hope you can join us with this extended challenge (closes December 28).  The rest of the Team have some beautiful snowflake creations for you:-

Ann Schach - The Stampin' Schach
Anne Marie Hile - Stampin' Anne
Jaydee - Jaydee's Stamping
LeAnne Pugliese - Wee Inklings
Nance Leedy - Canopy Crafts

Hope everyone has a safe & wonderful Christmas season.

Thank you to everyone who has visited this year & especially to those who have taken the time to comment.  Your support is very much appreciated. See you in 2013!

The Paper Players Challenge #125 - Colours from Nance!

This week Nance is our Hostess at The Paper Players & these are her pretty challenge colours:-

& here is my card:-

I've used a mix of old & new here, stamping the leaf image from Summer Silhouettes over the En Francais background.  To give some interest to the background panel, I stamped the blossoms in Versamark & then embossed them with Cherry Cobbler EP, adding a small pearl centre to each.  The retired sentiment (sans the swirls at the top) fitted perfectly into the framelit, which is raised on dimensionals above the ribbon & also finished off with pearls.

We hope you can join us at The Paper Players this week!  The Team have a fabulous range of beautiful creations to inspire you:-

The Paper Players Challenge #124 - Snow Much Fun!

This week's theme from Ann over at The Paper Players was so much fun, I just had to make:-

Here it is:-

Recently I have been making little treats with SU's long, skinny cellophane bags, & thought they would look kinda cute with snowmen on top.  Here is my little trio up close & personal:-

(you can click on the photos to view them larger)

I used the smallest Holiday Ornament die to make the snowmen, trimming off the hanger section & the point at the bottom.  I used a bunch of punches to add their bits & pieces (see below) & trimmed some branches from a tree die-cut (courtesy of the lovely Bronwyn Eastley *waving madly to you Bron*) to make their arms.  The eyes are the smallest size pearls, coloured with a permanent marker.

Here is a list of their bits:-

Body: Small Ornament die
Arms: Twiggy Tree Die (not SU)
Red & Green Hat: 3/4" Circle punch
Red & Green Hat Band: Small Oval punch
Pompom: Itty Bitty Flower punch
Buttons: Owl Builder punch
Noses: Blossom Petals Builder punch
Snowballs: Owl Builder punch
Green Hat: 3/4" Circle punch
Scarf: Small Oval Punch
Scarf Fringe: Finishing Touches Edgelit die
Top Hat Crown: Hanger Section of largest Ornament die
Top Hat Band & Brim: Word Window punch
Heart: Owl Builder punch
Tags: 2.1/2" Circle punch

I forgot to take a picture, but the rear face of the tag has "to" & "from" stamped on it.  :)

I used colours to co-ordinate with the Smarties, set on a Bashful Blue background which has been sponged with white craft ink.  The snowmen are cut from White Shimmer cardstock & are sitting on a pile of Dazzling Diamonds.  :)

We hope you can join us at The Paper Players!  To get you all inspired here are the links to the Team's sweet, snowy creations:-

The Paper Players Challenge #123 - Jaydee's Sketch

This week Jaydee is hosting at The Paper Players & has provided this sweet sketch that has so many possibilities:-

Sadly, I needed to make a sympathy card, so have used both the central panel & the banner to house the sentiment:-

I've incorporated a triple floral grouping by way of the 3D blooms.  These have been punched with the itty bitty flower punch, scrunched up & then the layers of paper have been separated to form the blossoms.  A small pearl has been added to the centre of each.

The bookplate has been raised on dimensionals & finished off with pearl trimmings.

Did you know The Paper Players are looking for a new batch of Guest Designers to join them for the next six months?  You can find all the details, as well as links to the Design Team's projects here at The Paper Players site.  Hope you can join us this week!  :)

The Paper Players Challenge #122 - Silver Anniversary!

This week LeAnne is hosting at The Paper Players, & here is her fun challenge:-

This theme was perfect for the card I wanted to create:-

Firstly, I die-cut the word "years" with my new Typeset Alphabet Bigz die.  I adore working with this type of steel die, as you can cut such a range of materials with them.  I used three layers of glossy white chipboard sheet, to get these lovely, chunky letters:-

Next I created & digitally die-cut the "25" & the mat, which forms the base of the card.  The numerals were debossed with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.

The "wonderful" has been silver embossed on a vellum banner, which has a pierced border.  To help the word stand out a little more, but still allow the numbers to show through, I layered extra vellum underneath the inner section of the banner.  All the vellum layers have been attached with glue dots (hidden under the rhinestones).

The rest of the DT have some awesome silver & gold projects to inspire you:-

The Paper Players Challenge #120 - A Simple, Sparkly Thanks!

This week at The Paper Players, Ann is our Hostess, & has presented the following challenge:-

Oh dear, I felt like a rebel when I saw the gorgeous creations from the rest of the team!  I have gone with a simple, clean & crisp "Thank You" card:-

I have a lovely collection of coloured glitter, which hasn't seen daylight in a while, since I discovered SU's Dazzling Diamonds, so I thought I would break it out.  I stamped the letters onto JAC paper (double sided adhesive), which was mounted onto cardstock:-

Then I fussy cut them:-

Then I popped them up on dimensionals, added them to the white shimmer layer, peeled off the JAC paper liner & added the glitter.  It's so sparkly!!  :)

Hope you can join us with your "Give Thanks" creation this week.  Here are the links to the rest of the DT so you can check out their fabulous projects:-

The Paper Players Challenge #119 - A Sketch from Nancy with a Paper Camellia!

It's time again for another challenge at The Paper Players & here is my card:-

Nance has created this awesome layout, (which I have rotated anti-clockwise 90 degrees):-

Regular visitors will know that I love to play around with my crafting tools & create different items with them.  For this camellia I have used the small snowflake from the Snow Flurry Bigz die to create the flower stamens (4 layers) & the small, round ornament from the Ornament Framelits die set to create the petals. I folded a piece of white cardstock & placed the fold near the top of the ornament die, to cut a joined pair of petals, like this (I think I had 10 pairs.):-

I sponged ink around the edges of the petals before I misted them with alcohol to scrunch them.  This made the ink bleed softly into the petals & create a lovely natural look.

Here is a close-up of the bloom:-

This is such a versatile sketch, as you will see by the fabulous inspiration pieces from The Paper Players Team.  You can visit each member via these links:-

The Paper Players Challenge #118 - Anne Marie's CAS with Frames

This week at the Paper Players, Anne Marie is hosting, & has presented another fun challenge:-

Well, everyone's perception of CAS varies, so I hope this card fits the bill:-

I've included two frames on this card, the shiny, blue bike frame & an interlocking frame.  Here's how the card works:-

These cards are really quite simple to create - you make a gate card base & then stick down half of your frame on the card, add adhesive to the opposite side of the central panel, sit it within the frame & push down to adhere.  Easy peasy!  :)

I've used four of the new incolors here.  Midnight Muse for the base card & frame, & then Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple & Gumball Green for the ribbons & colouring.

I used Versamark to stamp the bike/presents & then heat embossed with black.  The colouring has been done with blender pens & inkpads.  A touch of clear glitter pen over the midnight muse bike frame adds a lovely sparkle.

Here are the links to the rest of the Team, so you can see their fabulous CAS creations:-

The Paper Players Challenge #116 - A Cheeky Cup!

This week LeAnne is our Hostess at The Paper Players Challenge #116 & she has presented us all with a fabulous & fun challenge:-

LeAnne & I were having a chat behind the scenes about this challenge & LeAnne suggested it could be a "cup" of any kind, perhaps even a bra cup. Well, with that idea firmly planted in my mind, I set about creating this week's card. Here's the unassuming front of my project:-

& here's the inside:-

I've made this fun pop up card for my sweet hubby, who is always so supportive. He's definitely a keeper!  ♥

Here's a closer view of those perky little cups:-

& here's a bit of a mini tute on how to make them yourself.  :)

(You can click on the image to view larger.)
I've used:-
  • Ornament Punch
  • 2.1/2" circle punch
  • a length of the new eyelet border cut from the Finishing Touches Edgelits
  • a piece of  1/8" or 1/4" ribbon
  • a scrap of paper to join the two cups
  • an embellishment for the centre (I used an itty bitty punch flower & a pearl/rhinestone)
Firstly punch two ornament shapes. Then slide the ornament shape into the circle punch, so the point of the ornament is on the cutting edge & the outside of the "neck" of the ornament is sitting on the cutting edge. Punch. Discard the skinny piece. On the fat piece, trim the "neck" of the ornament off completely & discard.

Repeat this process with the other piece. If you are using printed paper, make sure you cut a left & right side to make a proper pair.  :)

Next you will need to neaten the loopy pattern on one edge of the eyelet border strip. Then cut wedge shape notches out of the bottom edge of the strip so you can curve it around the edge of the bra cup. Run a strip of adhesive on the reverse side of your bra cup. Then, starting with the neatened edge at the top, adhere the border strip, curving it as you stick (note - this paper strip is quite delicate, so be gentle with it or you may tear it).

Join the two cups together by adding a small strip of scrap paper at the back. (You will be able to see it through the lacy trim at this stage, but it will be covered by your central embellishment.)

Fold a length of ribbon in half & adhere the two layers together at the cut end. Repeat for other side.  Attach the ribbon straps to the back of each cup. Add your embellishment & voila, mini paper lingerie!

Tip: I lined the back of my mini bra with another set of paper cups to hide the ends of the ribbon, the bottom edge of the border strips & to make the joining of the cups stronger.

Obviously I didn't have an internal sentiment that related to bras, so I whipped this one up on the computer, matching my ink colour to my choc chip cardstock.  I punched the sentiment with the word window punch, & then trimmed the ends with the jewellery tag punch to form an elongated tag (pictures on how to do it in this post).

You can see all the other fabulous cups from the Design Team here:-

The Paper Players Challenge #115 - Time for Tic Tac Toe with Anne Marie!

It's challenge time again at The Paper Players & Anne Marie has an awesome tic tac toe grid for you to check out:-

There are so many possibilities to try here. I have gone with the vertical Christmas option of buttons & red & blue, but I realise that it kind of covers the horizontal line as well, with my pearly "bling" & soft seam binding ribbon. Here's my card:-

I couldn't resist using the cute little gingerbread die, so I've gone for the very non-traditional terracotta "red" of Cajun Craze, teamed with Night of Navy. The Cajun & Navy have been teamed with Very Vanilla & one of the gorgeous DSPs from the Comfort Cafe pack. I've added an itty bitty heart button, backed in Navy & threaded with a sliver of Vanilla cardstock. My gingerbread cutie is also sporting some sweet pearl "buttons".  :)

I've used three of the framelit label dies, with the sentiment one turned in the opposite direction to the other two, & then layered these onto an embossed background.

The rest of the Team have lots of amazing samples for you to enjoy, & you can view them all here:-

The Paper Players Challenge #114 - A Sponged Pear

This week Ann is our Hostess at the Paper Players, & she has created this fun sketch challenge for you to try out:-

I knew exactly what my "any shape" would be, as I had been playing around with my new Cannery Dies.  I have to admit it though, the three lines in the sketch gave me grief, as I wanted them to be subtle, so my sponged pear was the focus of attention.  I think I achieved that by layering pierced vanilla strips on the embossed vanilla background.

I used a white gel pen to add a delicate pattern to the jar cover & finished it off with a twine trim.

Here's a close up of the pear, complete with speckles!  I have to thank the lovely Christine Blain for inspiring/enabling my recent purchase of a spritzer - thanks Christine ♥.  I die-cut the pear in Very Vanilla, then gently sponged it all over with River Rock, then Pear Pizzazz.  I added a hint of blush to the left side with Peach Parfait & then spritzed the pear with Early Espresso.  The stalk was trimmed from a leaf from the Bird Builder Punch & attached with Crystal Effects:-

When I was experimenting with the pear, I also tried a sponged apple, if you are interested, I've added that at the end of the post.

We hope you can join us at The Paper Players this week.  As always, the Design Team have a fabulous array of projects to inspire you, & you can find them here:-

The Lollipop Ladies Challenge #52 - Guest Spot

A while back I won a challenge at The Lollipop Ladies & was excited to be invited to submit a sample for the current challenge.  The challenge is to create a project using inspiration from Barley Sugars, with the added twist of acetate.  Here is the inspiration pic:-

I've obviously taken the yellow colour & all that glorious sparkle & sheen to create my card, plus the twisty ends of the cellophane wrappers reminded me of wings, so this is what I've came up with:-

I made a box style card, that folds flat for mailing, but pops open to create a 3D frame to house my DSP & embossed acetate butterfly.  I wanted lots of reflection so I covered the entire front panel of the card with double sided adhesive paper & then gave it (& everything else in a one metre radius) a liberal coating of Dazzling Diamonds!

What will you create with from the inspiration pic?  Make sure you visit The Lollipop Ladies, check out the DT samples & join in the fun.  You may win a guest DT spot too!  :)

Card Components: (SU except as noted)
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Vellum

A Bloggy Holiday!

Sorry, no new posts for a while as I'm on holidays, enjoying some sun!  If Mr Blogger plays nicely, there is a post scheduled for the 26th!

I'm not sure that I will be eating icecream while I am away, but here's one for you to enjoy, (made with my favourite die - the Petal Cone).

Happy Stamping....
Helen  :)
